WAX!!!!

So Luke and David decided to start making homemade fire starters, which I am not opposed to.  Gives them something to do and saves money.  So during these dark months I burn a lot of candles and this leaves a lot of wax that is not used.  Yesterday I got tired of all the excess wax around the house so I started melting it in a tin can on the stove.  After I melted it all I set the can aside to let it harden.  Mind you it had been sitting on the counter for about 3 hours when the big boys got home.  As I was fixing dinner last night Luke noticed the can of wax ( the top and sides were hardened).  As he was looking at it he says "this is not done hardening" and then the next thing I know WAX is everywhere.  All over him, all over the counter, all over the floor, all over the cabinets, all over my pants and shoes too!

So my question to you is how do I get it off my pants?

Put an old towel over the wax, then iron it with a hot iron. The wax will melt into the towel. It will take a while. This also works if you blow out a candle and it gets all over a table cloth. If the wax has a color to it, it might leave a stain. Hope this helps. --Nancy Hinds

Just emailed you an idea on how to get it out. Hope you find something works! BTW--did you get it all of the kitchen surfaces?

Here is my method. I use an ice cube to get the wax as cold as possible, then pick off all the wax that you can. After you have done that use your iron on low setting, make sure steam is off, place 2-3 layers of paper towels on wax and iron. This takes some time, and you will have to replace the paper towels, but it should pull all the wax off your pants.

I hope this works for you, I have done it, and it worked really well.

I've heard of using a blow dryer to get wax out. With the world wide web you might google it also. I forget how useful google can be.

Has anything worked yet? Have you tried the ice method? The only time I've ever done this I used a method I found on martha stewart's website. It was basically the method my mom suggested--low iron setting, no steam, paper towel.
