First Snow!

I woke up this morning at 6:15am to Luke telling me " I love you Mom.  Did you know it is snowing?"  David and Luke went hunting this morning and what great timing for them.  Snow is always good for deer hunting because it brings the deer down the mountains a little more.

Everything was beautiful with the first dusting of snow.  It also brightened my spirits because it wasn't rain.  I love the freshness of the snow and the air is so crisp.  Justus wanted to go out and play, however their wasn't enough snow to play in and most of it is already melted out of the yard.  The snow is coming and I know eventually I will be saying "Will it ever go AWAY?"  But for today I will say " Thank you Lord for this refreshing day."

What are some things you like about the snow?

My New Camera...

I was able to get a new camera!  (Thanks to the state of Alaska. ~ PFD)  I own a Nikon N60 35mm camera & I really loved this camera, however with the fact that you can't find film hardly anymore I got a small digital for mothers day about 3 years ago.  This year I was wanting a little more options for taking pictures so I decided to upgrade.  I chose another Nikon because I have all these really nice lenses and wanted to be able to use them with my new camera too.  So I got a Nikon D3000..... I am really enjoying learning how to use my new camera.

What type of camera do you use or what camera are you thinking of upgrading to?

Orion's 8 Month Photos

Orion turned 8 months about the time we all got sick around here.  I didn't want to take pictures of him when he was all snotty and looking sick.  So I choose to wait until we were all feeling better.  Orion has started pulling himself up on things (i.e. the couch, the toy box)  He still only weighs 16 lbs. 6 oz. and is still working on gettin the 8th tooth.  He is such a good baby and continues to watch everyone around him.  He laughs when the older kids play with him and lately one of his favorite things to do is chew on is Matthias shoes.  The velcro feels great on the teeth. YUCK!!!  Food has become the reason for his screaming when I don't get it to him fast enough.  He thinks that whatever mom eats he should eat too!  Here are some pictures David took for me this morning.  and some that I took of him in his Bible class too!
Rylan is sitting next to him and they are only 1 week apart.
Such handsome little men...

"Easy" Chicken Enchiladas

What You Will Need:
1. 2 cans cream of chicken soup
2. 1/2 pint sour cream
3. pinch of garlic powder
4. 1 can diced green chilies
5. 1 1/2 cups diced onion (I use dried minced onion)
6. 3-4 chicken breasts, cooked and diced (I use chicken tenders)
7. 1 dozen flour tortillas
8. grated Monterey Jack cheese (I use the chedder/jack mix from costco)

saute the onion in a little bit of butter until softened (about 5 minutes)
Mix first 6 ingredientstogether in a large bowl.  Spoon a bit of the chicken mixture into each tortilla. roll up and place side by side in a 9 X 13 baking pan. Pur remaining mixture over enchiladas and sprinkle with cheese.  Bake 30 minutes at 350.

This is one of David's favorites.  Some of the kids like it, however some don't.  I guess I can't please them all.

What is an "easy" meal you fix for your family?

Funny Things Children Say In Their Sleep~

Last night while tending to Matthias who was crying because he wasn't feeling well, Justus yells in his sleep "Mom! Orion is headed to the baby wipes."  So even in times of sickness and frustration because my children and I are not feeling well.  God showed me a little Joy.  I got the giggles because of this one.

What are some fun thing your children do in their sleep?

 I love this little boy!!!!
This is  the face he made when I asked him to smile.

Sick!!! Take 2

Yesterday I took Matthias to the Dr. and found out that he has a serious ear infection in his left ear, the other ear is starting to get red, pink eye, and a really red throat.  No wonder he isn't feeling well.  This morning Justus is running a fever and has green gunk coming out of his eyes too!  I guess I'm off to the Dr. again today.

*p.s. due to the fact I have sick kidos today I will not be posting my "In The Word Wednesday."  Sorry for those who were looking forward to it. (I was)  Maybe I will be able to do it later this week.

SICK!!!!

I think that when one is sick, it doesn't take long for others to get sick.  This weekend we came down with a cold.  I actually think it started on Thursday, however it didn't hit hard until Saturday night.  Joe, Justus, Orion and Matthias (and now me) are all coughing, sneezing, and have the snotty noses too.  Joe had a fever on Sunday night, but Monday morning he was well enough to go to school.  When he came home though he had a fever. UGH!  Last night was terrible.....  Matthias had such a high fever I wanted to cry.  At 2:30am his fever was 102.6 under the arm.  We were able to get his fever down enough that he was able to sleep again.  During this time Orion woke up several times with a croupy cough and wanting me to nurse him.  Which I did because he would work himself up so much that he sounded super bad.  He woke up at 11:30, 2:15 and 5:45.  Another UGH!  Joe has been coughing during the night thankfully with no fever.  (staying home today)  Matthias is agian running a high fever of 101.2 (under the arm- do you add a degree when taking under the arm? I can't remember.)  Please pray that we will all get better soon and that Katie, Luke and David won't get this!  Whatever it is....

Something....

I don't want to do without during the dark fall/winter days in Juneau is:
My kitchen light!

Two years ago for my birthday this is what I asked for.  You may think  wow, she asked for a light. However living in Juneau for almost 16 years has taught me that I need a lot of "brightness" in the fall and winter months.

What is something that you don't want to do without in the fall and winter months?

Little Boys.....

In Red!

I think I may have pulled some teeth  (my own) trying to get a
good picture of the 3 little boys.
I like to dress them alike.
I know it won't be to much longer and they won't let me.
I still think I have some handsome little boys.....
