Cardnials Baseball Season Over

Tonight was Joe's tournament game for 1st place for the majors baseball division. He played against the Athletics's. It was a close game, however the Cardinals did win. 3 to 1 His team was super excited and they were told by the coaches that if they won the championship game they would be rewarded with Cardinals jackets. Joe has had a great year of baseball thanks to two very wonderful coaches, Joe Tompkins and Frank Tompkins. These coaches were strict and were also very praising of the boys.

And wouldn't you know I forgot my CAMERA!!!!!

Well we start All Star practice tomorrow. I don't see an end to baseball any time soon. :-)

God Bless

Birthday Cake Fun

Matthias loved his birthday cake.
Wednesday night after bible class the church helped celebrate
his first birthday with us.
He won't remember his first birthday but I will.
We have a great church family here in Juneau.
Thank you family for celebrating with us.

At first he was unsure of what to do with the cake. As you can see he figured out what to do; he made a huge mess of himself!

I guess you are only 1 once, so I'll let him get away with it this time.

(Thank you Geoffrey and Dana for your help. I couldn't have done it with out you.)

Matthias Is 1 Today!

It is hard for me to believe that Matthias is 1 years old today.
It seems like yesterday that we brought him home from the hospital weighing 9lbs 1 oz.
He has truly blessed our lives.
I pray as he grows we will teach him to seek the Lord in everything .
And by putting God first he will find his true provider.

Silly Justus

Can you see anything Justus?
Justus likes to play with binoculars.
However he hasn't quiet figured out
which way is the right way to use them.
He ended up tripping over my foot
because he thought I was farther away than I was.
Silly Boy!

More Baseball

These are some more pictures that I took of the boys at baseball camp. As you can see they work them hard. Sitting on buckets and playing baseball dodge ball. Sounds like a pretty intensive camp. The boys really did have a lot of fun and it was well worth it. On another note Joe made All Stars this year so there will be more baseball games for the Paden family. We are so proud of our boys and we are looking forward to "More Baseball".

Hiking Thunder Mountain

At the top, with Juneau in the distance.

You can see a goat in the background. Little white spot.
They saw about 5 while they were on top.

Heading back down.

Almost Home

Thunder Mountain is one of the Paden's favorite hikes. David tries to take our boys up at least once a year. This year because of baseball Joe wasn't able to go. So David took Luke and Cody. Cody is from Arkansas and has been here in Juneau for about 1 year. He moved up here with his Grandma and His Mom. Cody has been a blessing to our family and we have enjoyed having him around. We will surely miss him when he moves back to Arkansas. Anyway Cody told David he would like to hike Thunder Mountain before he left. Sunday the weather was decent enough to give it a try. They left our house about 1pm and David called from the top at about 4:20pm. Coming down is the tricky part because there are some steep parts and you can end up falling. (Which Luke and Cody both did. Thankfully they weren't hurt very bad.)
All in all I think they had a great day. I know they are all sore,
however this being Cody's first time hiking Thunder Mt.
I am sure he is feeling it in several places, but I think the pain is worth the experience.

Good Job Cody!

Makes Me Laugh

Joe got a hold of the camera the other day and took this
funny picture of Matthias. Every time I see it it puts a huge smile on my face.
Hope it does the same for you. Have a great day and God Bless

Joe Loves To Play Baseball

Joe's First Home Run
He was super excited. He hit the ball to the fence, and kept running till he got to home.
You can see by the picture it was a close one, but the umpire said "SAFE".

Juneau Baseball Camp

6/16/2008 - 6/20/2008

This week is baseball camp for Juneau players. There is about 60 players that are participating. Joe was able to partake because a wonderful person paid the fee for him to play.

Camp starts and 8am and ends a 3pm. He comes home exhausted and wakes up ready to go by 7:30am. Today is the last day and I am sure come Monday he will be missing Baseball Camp.

Saturday is his last game of the season. So if you don't have anything to do.

Come see Joe play ball, 4pm in Miller field #1.

God Bless

Saving Gas and Electricity

In April there was an Avalanche at Snettisham (our hydro electric plant). The avalance took out 3 of the towers that bring us our electricity. This put Juneau on diesel generators for quite some time. In fact rates are now at 11.4 cents per kWh, down from the 52.5 cents per kWh that it had been for the months of April, May and June.

The way we have been conserving energy is a lot like other families.
Hanging our laundry, keeping lights off,
using the stove only when we are cooking dinner,
making sure the kids are not leaving lights on, unplugging our T.V., not using my cordless phone, David has been using his cell phone for his alarm clock, and we only used the computer about once a week. The only thing that was really annoying was having hard, crispy towels. I am not planning to use my dryer all that often, however my towels will be dried in the dryer.

Now gas is another story. Gas being over 4.00 a gallon we have tried to cut back on the usage of my Yukon. Seeing how my truck is a gas hog. We tend to use our bikes a lot. Yesterday I ventured to Fred Meyers with Justus to do my grocery shopping.

I brought home 3 gallons of milk, diapers, paper towels, toilet paper, 2 bags of cereal, and 3 huge bags of food.

You can see from the picture above that Justus was covered. Next time I will not get so much groceries or maybe I will have to leave Justus at home.

Have a wonderful day and God Bless

Church Family Camping Retreat

The weekend of June 13 - June 15 we went camping with our church family. Friday night we started with hamburgers and hot dogs and ended with singing and a Devo. The sleeping arrangements for the Paden family weren't as great as I would have liked but we made out. Joe and Luke slept in a tent, David and Justus slept in the back or our brown truck and Matthias, Katie and I slept in the back of my Yukon. Needless to say I did not get a lot of sleep because Matthias is partial to his bed. Saturday was filled with more fellowship. At 11:00am I brought Joe to his baseball game. And we returned for another meal of hamburgers and hot dogs around 4:30pm. You can't go wrong with this meal when you are camping. We had some more wonderful singing and a Devo (under some tarps so we wouldn't get wet). Saturday night I headed back to our house with Matthias and Katie for some much needed sleep. Sunday we met with the Church and then after service we took David out to get deli from Safeway for Fathers Day and then went back to the camp site to help clean up. After the cleaning was done we all indulged David as he wanted to drive to the end of the road. And I must admit even though I was not up for the drive it really ended up being relaxing. All in all it was a great time and we really had a wonderful weekend. Hope you all had a wonderful Fathers Day and God Bless.

If you notice the sticker it says 10 cents. Rachel thought this was cute, I must admit so do I because I wouldn't let him go for 10 cents.
