The Inheritance (a.k.a. "Old Blue")

David and I inherited this 1972 Chevy van when his Papa Paden passed away in 2001. We have been storing it in a lot in Albuquerque N.M. After rebuilding the engine, fixing the steering, and getting all the dents out and then repainting it. We decided it was time to drive it back up to Juneau. Because it does not have enough seat belts and we were driving about 1600 miles to Bellingham, we decided it would be best to leave the kids at home with their wonderful grandparents. I am so grateful to Jeannie and Jon for being willing to watch our children. I had no worries and knew they were in great hands. Maybe a few to frequent stops at McDonald's, however I knew they were well cared for. This is the first time David and I were able to spend this much time together and be away from the kids since we were married almost 15 years ago. It was rewarding and I enjoyed having the attention of my husband for a whole week. We have decided that this is a wonderful way to spend time together and we are hoping to do this trip again in the future. However with out the almost 2 days on the ferry. That was a little much.

The drive was beautiful and we saw many of our Gods beautiful creations. The scenery was always changing and I never got tired of seeing what was coming next. At one point I thought this must have been what the land looked like before God separated the water and land. We are truly blessed to live in such a beautiful world. Here are some pictures from our adventure. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. Have a great day and Gods Blessings on you and your family.
This one was just for Rachel. In the land of never ending cows "You are half way between the Equator and the South Pole". We actually passed a road sign that told us this little bit of information. The cows part was not on the sign, however it should have been. The cows just would not end.

It looks like you guys had fun on your trip! I agree with you, it is good to spend time with our "better halves". I bet the grandparents had fun too!

We were hoping to see you in Missouri when you decided to drive Old Blue back to Juneau. Of course I can't blame you for using that time for just the two of you since you actually got away without the kids.
